A summer of grilling, families, running, paddling, and reading…

Right in the heart of grilling season, the folks over at Ski’s Meat Market called me up for some promotional photos. They haven’t made them to their website yet, but are featured in ads and fliers.

I’ll be going back for a shoot with the cheese case next! 🙂
The Laudons, who I met through Trout Unlimited, celebrated their 50th anniversary this summer. They had us come over for family photos of the whole crew who flew in for the occasion. What a beautiful family!

20131002-101453.jpg
Congratulations, Jim and Marilyn! 🙂
George (my beer-drinking-cycling-running friend) and I ran a little race over in the geographical center of Wisconsin- the Pittsville Heart and Sole race. It’s always a weeknight close to my absolute favorite holiday,, the 4th of July. Last year, it was so hot that I almost drowned in my own sweat, but this year was a pleasant five miles. All proceeds go to support this small town fire department. What’s not to love!

20131002-101935.jpg

20131002-102022.jpg
On the actual 4th, the Beggs family invited us over to their lake house for photos with their extended family. In a word? Granddaughters.

20131002-102323.jpg
And as always, it wouldn’t be summer in Wisconsin without hearing the Mark Little Band on the chain while drinking Jameson.

20131002-102521.jpg
Love you guys. Love dancing in a sundress, in the heat of the summer, to your music.
I usually give Lifest it’s own post, but I am not going to post a single photo from my camera this year. I was “promoted” to photo team supervisor this year, so I basically felt like a nervous mom…
“The pyrotechnics are starting, where is everyone?”
“Stay away from the flames!”
“Where are your earplugs?!”
“Are you drinking water? HAVE YOU PEED TODAY?”
I snagged one image off my phone for you guys to get a feel for where I was most of the time…

20131002-102949.jpg
On the Saturday of Lifest, they host a 5K. You know I had to get in on that action. I even dragged B along for the ride.

…and, even though I’m sure you all think I won, I finished in the middle of the pack, and was greeted by the infamous Bill and Darrell!

20131002-103322.jpg
A few days of shooting, a lot of friends, some great music and fellowship… And of course, selfies of me with my neck strap.

Until next year… avoid sensor dust, my ninjagraphers.
I’d barely been home from Lifest for 24 hours before I found myself up at Cynthia’s charming bookstore in Wausau for a photo shoot with River District Theatre’s latest featured performer.

They are working on creating a brand new, super hip, NYC-style intimate venue. So cool.
And speaking of cool, I took off for a paddle on the chain and to practice all my kayaking tricks. Love the water. It heals every ill.

Another quick trip up to Wausau to visit my Delta Omicron sister, Amanda, after surgery. Can you see the family resemblance?

20131002-104403.jpg
I’m happy to report she is feeling better and healing well. Speaking of healing…
I ran some single track trails with my Oklahoma friend, Brandon. 10 miles, two skinned knees.

20131002-104525.jpg

20131002-104541.jpg
Those little scars are worth it 🙂
I couldn’t shove those sore knees of mine into waders, so I missed a TU work day with the DNR, but I stopped by to capture them all working hard 🙂

20131002-104714.jpg

20131002-104731.jpg
I was able to wrap up my knees and hide them under a long dress to shoot Ashley and William’s colorful northwoods wedding.

Congratulations, Mr. and. Mrs. McCarron!
One of the things I love about shooting weddings is being a part of this brand new family unit as it’s being created. Heidi and Maxx called me up to ask if I would be a part of their tradition with their “picture-in-a-picture” shoot. Basically, on their first anniversary, they had a picture taken of them holding their wedding photo. Then they framed that new image, and had me take a photo of them on their second anniversary, holding their first anniversary photo. So cool!

20131002-105519.jpg
I couldn’t resist taking this beautiful couple to a perfectly dreamy spot.

20131002-105550.jpg
Keep up the love, you two!
My best friend, Amy, was a star in a murder mystery dinner theatre. Brian and I headed up to see her perform, and eat steak, of course!

20131002-105725.jpg

20131002-105757.jpg
We practically wore the same dress!
Happy fifth birthday to our sweet nephew, Reid. He was present at our wedding, but probably couldn’t see or hear anything, since he was still inside my sister-in-law! 🙂 It’s amazing how time flies.

20131002-105933.jpg
I’ll leave you with a few yoga photos- I am in the middle of doing a new series of group fitness photos for Adventure 212, and this is the class that I attend… I almost put down my camera and jumped in!

That was some kind of hiatus.

Hey, fans and friends. Sorry about that ridiculous break that I like to call a disorganized summer. Actually, I focused on spending more quality time with B and spent more time on the stream and playing outside. I can’t really apologize for that.
I left off promising to share some favorites from Hannah and Todd’s beautiful central Wisconsin wedding on June 22nd. ❤

Todd and Brian have been friends for quite some time- I believe they met in middle school, and they played in a rock band together when I first met Brian! I met Todd when he first came to college- we were in percussion studio together. It was so wonderful to spend this day with our friends.
Sadly, about a month after their wedding, a tornado destroyed much of their church. I’m so glad I captured her dress hanging in front of those beautiful windows- that entire wall collapsed in the storm.
Even though it rained on their wedding day, we were able to spend some time playing outside and truly celebrated this new beginning with Mr. and Mrs. Truesdale! 🙂
Another fantastic June project of mine is something I developed this past winter, that I’ve briefly mentioned in the past. When our Wisconsin State Council of Trout Unlimited asked me to take on the role of chair for their brand-new Women’s Initiatives committee, I agreed, even though I had no idea how to start. Among the many ideas that I had while brainstorming, I was thinking of how I could plant the seed in the minds of girls, so they would grow up informed and connected to the resource. The biggest source of girls in our country? Girl Scouts! There are 3.2 million Girl Scouts in our country, and almost a million of those are adult volunteers. That sounded like a perfect place to start, so I called up my long-time pom-squad girlfriend from junior high, Melissa, since she works for the Girl Scouts.
I started asking questions about water badges, and I contacted TU national’s staff to see what kind of youth resources that were available for me. To make a long story short, the TU staff (Bryan, Franklin, Rochelle) and I developed a curriculum for a three day event, and Stream Girls was born. We took the girls out to a stream for a guided stream walk, entomology, fly tying, casting, and fishing. I have big plans for the growth of this program, as it is a perfect opportunity to create a new generation of informed, educated female citizens… And they’re darn adorable. See for yourself.

Friends, love, and collaborations.

Hey, y’all. I’ve had too much fun in the last couple weeks. I’ve tried to squeeze in all of my favorite things. Here’s a recap, heavy on the photos. 🙂
I went for a nasty, slushy, slippery run with George.

20130224-202649.jpg
Twinsies.

20130224-202717.jpg
I had an amazing lunch with Nancy and Rickopedia. Two wonderfully kind people, two intelligently training athletes. Whenever I catch up with them, I leave 1) smiling, and 2) smarter. Or at least with a good running head screwed on my shoulders.

20130224-202848.jpg
Rainbow trout pedicure… yes, I invented it.

20130224-202924.jpg
Lunch with Jake, an uplifting, funny, caring, drummer. He says, “Hi!”

20130224-203026.jpg
Lunch with Bill. I have spring fever, and he’s rooting for cold weather.

20130224-203218.jpg
Happy Valentine’s Day to me! Brian made my day by grilling out for dinner and bringing my flowers and my favorite kinds of dark chocolate.

20130224-203333.jpg
I did a photo shoot at Bistro 212 for their Valentine’s Dinner. Love the owners, love the chef, love the food. Here’s a few of my favorites.

20130224-203622.jpg

20130224-203645.jpg

20130224-203710.jpg
I even dolled up for the occasion. Well, that… And it was date night. B and I headed over to Waupaca to hear our favorite Peach play.

20130224-203800.jpg

20130224-203811.jpg

20130224-203822.jpg
We met with Jim and Megan to finalize photo plans for their 2014 wedding. I’ve known Megan since junior high, so it was wonderful to reconnect over something as lovely as a wedding 🙂

20130224-204012.jpg
I got my car back, too. 🙂 no picture, just pure happiness over here. Two weeks without it really reminded me of how blessed I am to have a vehicle of my own.
One more shoot over at 212, with some of their trainers and a TRX demo.

20130224-204140.jpg

20130224-204157.jpg

20130224-204219.jpg
A few training runs with Brian, getting him ready for next weekend’s Bock run… But I forgot to take many photos. Picture a red-faced, happy couple. 🙂 here’s one that B took. 🙂

20130224-204600.jpg
I went to Katrina Shankland’s public office hours to ask questions and learn more about the mining bill currently in our state.

20130224-204521.jpg
I went up to Wausau to meet my friend, Melissa. She works for the Girl Scouts, and I’m working on a top-secret super-awesome collaboration between GSA and Trout Unlimited.

20130224-204749.jpg
A TU general meeting, with a presentation from Wyatt and Matt about fishing the tributaries to the Great Lakes…

20130224-204827.jpg
We got a new mattress! Since it was being delivered while B was at work, we moved our old mattress and boxspring into the living room Thursday night, so I could haul it outside by myself. It was strange sleeping on my bed, but in the living room. I loved sleeping next to my marimba.

20130224-205024.jpg
We celebrated National Margarita day by making shrimp tacos with fresh corn tortillas and strawberry margaritas. Delicious!

20130224-205115.jpg

20130224-205130.jpg

20130224-205137.jpg
Saturday brought lunker structure building with TU. Yes, they let me use the big nailer. I may have not been the most efficient, but they let me do it anyway. What a group. 🙂

One last thing. 🙂 thanks for hanging in here!
I went to a wonderful concert over at Scaraboccio Art Museum today: Faure and John Cage, sung by Susan Bender. It was wonderful- one of those concerts that reminds me how blessed I am to be able to appreciate and understand truly good music.

Finished with antibiotics, Cat and Brett, family, tying flies, Talia and JJ, and lots of traveling.

I’m proud to say I have officially finished my 10 days on antibiotics. Now, the probiotics begin 🙂
Brian and I had influenza, and mine paired up with a sinus infection to keep me pretty miserable and out-of-it for almost three weeks.
I’m almost disappointed to report that I’ve run a total of 6.25 miles this year. On a positive note, I finished off last year with a total of 670.4. That means $67.04 will come from out of our pocket in memory of Rachael. 2012 was a heck of year for my Miles for Melanoma schedule- Bock run, Oshkosh 1/2, Crazylegs, Lacrosse 5K, Madison Marathon, Grandma’s Marathon, Heart and Sole 5 miler, Lifest 5K, Fox Cities 1/2, Clam Chowdah Challenge, Noodleini 15K, and the Frostbite. Amen to that, and we miss you, Rachael.
One of my running resolutions for 2013 was is to run a higher weekly average- mostly meaning that I’d continue to run seriously between training for races. I will be happy to get going on that resolution as soon as I’m feeling 100%. In the meantime, I’ve been cross training and trying to keep in good spirits.

Since I’ve been “gone” for the better part of the month, here’s a little recap, dominated by photos 🙂
We hosted a fun cocktail party, complete with a surprise guest from London, my beloved junior high crush, Jon Marx 🙂 I didn’t think he could get any cuter, but he did… He now has an accent. Oh, dear.

Hello, strangers.

Hello, strangers!
I apologize for temporarily being MIA. Here in central Wisconsin, the fall colors have been at their peak, which means I am in the busiest photo season of the year!
Since I left you last time, Brian and I enjoyed a sushi date night.

We ate octopus for the first time! It was very chewy. All that rice was like carb-loading for Ashlee and Nick’s Plover wedding.

Beautiful coloring, but I won’t be inviting her to a block party anytime soon.
Monday morning brought a pumpkin/kale smoothie and some fun photos of my friend, Randy. He owns Radio Kaos… You know I’m a fan.

Tuesday was full of photo editing and the engagement portraits of Erika and Chad. Their wedding will be in Milwaukee, and they live in Appleton, but they took the day off to come visit us here in Stevens Point. We took them to Schmeekle Reserve, played around on campus, walked downtown, then finished up at O’so Brewing Company.

On Wednesday, I had a really fun shoot at a spa event over at Adventure 212. I haven’t edited those photos yet- but here’s an iPhone photo of the double use of some of our lighting.

20121009-113600.jpg
On Thursday, I worked in our second bedroom and took several big storage containers to our storage unit. That is time-consuming work! I also went to my monthly TU board meeting and made mental notes for winter fishing projects. I’m going to do some revamping of our chapter website and tie more flies of my own. 🙂
Friday was a long run day. It was a very windy day, and it was a tough 20 mile run.

Their ceremony was at St. Anne’s in Wausau, with photos at Leigh Yawkey and the 400 block. Their gorgeous reception was at Jefferson Street Inn, with some of the most beautiful floral work I’ve ever seen from Randy at Evolutions in Design. Simply incredible. I volunteered with Karen at Girl Scout camp, so I’ve known this beautiful bride for 15 years! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen!
We left their reception and headed straight to the end of the reception of our friends, Mary and Joe. Remember these guys? I did their engagement portraits earlier this year…

We got home around 1:30 and peeled ourselves out of bed Sunday morning to shoot morning light engagement photos of Jen and Josh up in Wausau. They are a gorgeous couple and we’re looking forward to their beautiful wedding at the Milwaukee Art Museum.

I tried to catch up on photo work and housework yesterday before heading out with my friend and fellow TU board member, Matt. He took me out to all the work sites of our chapter’s stream restoration projects. I am planning on doing some work with our projects, showing before-during-after shots as the projects move along, and I wanted to get some photos before winter sets in. Here’s a few of my favorites.

Our stream projects are taking wide, shallow, warm sections of the stream that have been washed out by erosion and other causes and narrowing them. Trout cannot live or breed in warm water, so they need narrow, cold water with places to hide. We don’t create habitat where it doesn’t belong, but we try to repair and restore the areas that have been damaged.
I’m off to finish the wedding of Rachel and Alex and dig into my gaggle of engagement images. I can’t wait for Brian to come home so we can go for a rainy day run followed by a warm bowl of homemade chili. 🙂

Leah and Eric, Fox Cities Half race recap, and our birthday party!

We had one heck of a weekend over here 🙂
I started my Friday morning by using up the last of the coffee I bought at Seattle’s Pike Place Market Starbucks. Delicious! I guess I better start planning my trip back!

20120925-090519.jpg
I did some photo work and prepped for the busy weekend, then headed out for a quick 4 miler before Brian came home. I ran along the river, which was chilly but beautiful. Check out that algae!

20120925-090634.jpg
My cousin, Ryan, from Chicago, called me on Friday afternoon to let me know he was on his way up to Wausau for a wedding. It was an awesome surprise! We drove up there to pick him up and take him to dinner.

20120925-090815.jpg
After I asked him a million questions about the wedding, I realized that he was attending the wedding that we were shooting the next day- the lovely Leah Tucker and Eric Taylor.

20120925-091046.jpg
We did those engagement portraits up at Rib Mountain State Park last fall, and we captured their wedding at St. Florian’s in Hatley, WI. Here’s a photo recap of their beautiful wedding day.

…and quite possibly my favorite, which was inspired by the way I saw the sunlight making the corn glow…

20120925-091522.jpg
We were finished after those photos, so we headed home to pack up and prepare for Sunday’s Fox Cities Half Marathon. We took our pups and my gear out to New London to stay at my mother-in-law’s home. We went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Appleton, and since it was our birthdays, they had us put on these huge hats, stand on a chair, and dance while the waitstaff sang- then they gave us some dessert and had us close our eyes while they put whipped cream on our chins. It was quite the spectacle, and a big surprise. 🙂 I didn’t know to have the camera ready for that, but I did get this photo, with our server. 🙂

20120925-091816.jpg
We took our full bellies back to my MIL’s, and we crashed hard. Sunday’s race morning alarm went off early at 4:45, and it was a balmy 34 degrees. This is appropriate race gear…

20120925-092015.jpg
Just kidding. That my top layer for pre-race. 🙂 My DO sister, Ashley, ran this half marathon, too- and her boyfriend, Eric, our other sister, Mary, and of course, my best race supporter, Brian, were all there.

20120925-092235.jpg

20120925-092244.jpg
Sisters. 🙂 I feel like a giant.
The race was chilly, but I got used to the temperature and found a nice little groove. Running for Rachael has been interesting this year- from heat advisories to freeze warnings!

20120925-092415.jpg
I was running the first couple miles and talking to Ashley, until I suggested she go right ahead without me since she’s faster! 🙂 For the first time, I didn’t have a plan for the race. I usually have everything planned, from my socks to my pre-race breakfast to my pace. This time, I wore my winter gear for the first time this season, forgot breakfast and ate a pumpkin scone from Starbucks, and began to think I should have prepared to run a PR in this race, instead of taking things so casually. Since my marathons this spring were slow (and painful!), I began to wonder if my days of running faster were over. Of course, I’m processing this during miles 3 and 4… And I am well aware that my upcoming Clam Chowdah Challenge race times are not going to be PRs. I thought, well… I might as well make this race a PR, then. Mile five was a perfect time to run across (pun intended!) Mary, running as a angel for Team Triumph. How inspiring! Way to go, sole sister.

20120925-093004.jpg
I started trying to do some math in my head. In order to beat my last PR (2:03:30), how fast did I need to go for the remaining miles? Could I walk through those water stations? I needed the Gatorade- I didn’t pack any fuel. Hmmm… I kept cruising along. Our friends were waiting at mile 7, with smiles and encouragement.

20120925-093206.jpg
I felt really good during this race. Miles 7-12 were great, I prayed a little for Rachael and TK, and I made a grocery list in my head. Casual, no? 🙂 Kimmy was out there somewhere- she text me encouragement, then I passed her around mile 12. I was starting to feel out of energy. I should have grabbed one of those bananas… Thanks for that last cheer, Kim- I needed it! Ashley finished a few minutes ahead of me with a PR of 1:50 something. Insert Paul Ryan marathon time joke here.

20120925-093548.jpg
I spent the last mile reminiscing of finishing my first full marathon on that course, and pulled it in with a PR of 2:01:44.

20120925-093651.jpg

20120925-093701.jpg
Special thanks to my massage guy- he fixed me up good so I could continue on with my busy day.

20120925-093749.jpg
Congratulations, Ashley! We rocked it out.

20120925-093848.jpg
Oh, happy day. I held this little card (and my blankie!) tight as I slept on the way home.

20120925-093921.jpg

20120925-094805.jpg
As soon as I got home, showered, and got dressed, we turned to full-on party mode. I got the cider and mulling spices simmering on the stove, the chicken pot pie filling warming in the crock pot, and started getting snacks plated. Sunday was Brian’s actual birthday, so we had some friends over to celebrate.

Thanks for celebrating with us, friends! You’re all wonderful and we’re blessed to have you in our lives! The fifth annual Oberstadt birthday party was a success. I had to leave our own party at 5 to go teach ballroom lessons- more tango and waltz. The real challenge is trying to simultaneously wear compression socks and ballroom shoes. Classy.
I’m back to work, returning emails and editing photos before meeting a bride in Wausau tonight and shooting some fall engagements up in Tomahawk tonight. It will be a busy week! 🙂

Home repair, my 27th birthday, and running with Brian <3

After building three wedding sideshows yesterday, my brain is a little artistically fried today. It turns out that I’m very emotionally invested in these couples- I get goosebumps when I put together those DVDs. 🙂
I started the week by heading up to Wausau to rehearse with Dale. We played around with some new waltz and tango patterns. Such different dances… And I love them both. 🙂
Tuesday was my 27th birthday. When I was growing up, my mom and I had a tradition of breakfast in bed on my birthday (in hindsight, I’m pretty sure I didn’t make her breakfast in bed on her birthday. Sorry, Mom!). Since Brian had to leave work work much earlier than I was going to wake up, he surprised me with breakfast in bed with a twist. When I woke up, I found a text that told me my breakfast was in the fridge and the coffee maker was set to brew right when I woke up. How sweet! I forgot to take a photo of the beautiful fruit and yogurt bowl he made me. What a guy!
I worked on some home projects in the morning- like hanging these mirrors.

20120921-090049.jpg
Now, we just have to finish those stairs… 🙂
My mom and her friend, Lisa, came to take me to lunch. We went to Grazies and I took them over to Sweetfrog for dessert. I’m so happy that we have a frozen yogurt place here!
Brian had a work meeting in the evening, so we headed out to dinner late, around 8:30. I was starving! We went to Father Fats. The food was delicious! They’re open late, but there were just a couple other people in the restaurant. One of my favorite dishes was their Asian chicken wraps.

20120921-090444.jpg
My date is so handsome! 🙂

20120921-090505.jpg
It has been getting pretty cold at night here, so I finally turned on the heat. I forgot how much Abbie loves the heat vent- she will lay right in front of it for hours.

I could do that, too- but instead I’ve been making warm, cozy breakfasts and getting to work. I’m on a pumpkin kick- look at this beautiful pumpkin quinoa dish!

Our friends, the Schoberts, have the cutest puppy- Chuck! They live five blocks away, and I volunteered to let him out during the day if they can’t get away from work. He’s so cute that I don’t mind at all. Especially this time of year, when I can just hop on my bike. Seriously. So cute.

Brian ran with me two days in a row this week! I thought about running with the Wednesday night group at the track, but it was a perfect night for Brian’s first fall-weather run. I’m so proud of him! He did 3.5 miles on Wednesday and 4.25 on Thursday. We ended up running into (pun intended) the Wednesday night folks out in Schmeekle. Maybe Brian will be joining me out there someday!

While I was out at Nicki’s 31 party last night, Brian installed my new office light fixture. It lights up my office so nicely, and looks pretty slick!

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite all-time wedding photo bombs. I don’t know what came over me- but when I was setting up the shot on the right, I felt a strong urge to photo bomb Brian’s shot. A girl’s gotta have fun! 🙂

Fall is here! (Part II)

Two weeks= two posts. I have too much to share to fit it all in one! If you know anything about me, you know I’ve never been short on words. 😉
Back to Wednesday- our small group met and finished up discussion on the last chapters of Mere Christianity.

20120917-114344.jpg
Next week, we’re starting Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s “The Cost of Discipleship.”
Thursday included a photo shoot with the writers of “Table Talk,” and they were a TON of fun!

20120917-114600.jpg
As soon as I finished up that photo shoot, Brian and I headed up to Wausau for a Lia Sophia party at Amy’s house. On the way, we stopped at my mom’s house to bring her a bouquet of roses. She’s the best… She’s back in school, and I know that there are inherent challenges in that. Keep up the good work, Mom!
Amy is becoming a Lia Sophia advisor, so I will have a hook up for my favorite every-day jewelry! I bought a few things, including some gifts. I have already purchased so many Christmas gifts… I’m getting quite the head start this year! Brian and I stuck around to watch the rest of the Packer/Bear game with the Snyders… the Pack pulled off a win! Whoop whoop.
I woke up on Friday, planning to accomplish two big things- finishing up editing our Iowa wedding (Brian and Lisa) and running my 18 miler. Within an hour of waking up, I’d sneezed 13 times! Darn allergies. The treadmill has been my friend the last couple weeks, as I’m trying to log my miles and still stay sneeze-free. Abbie was starved for attention during breakfast, as always…

20120917-115150.jpg
I digested and enjoyed some coffee while editing, then headed off to the gym around 11 for the run. One of the benefits of doing my long runs indoors on a treadmill is that I don’t have to carry my own fuel with me- I can leave my candy and water on the mill. This run was fueled by Skittles and Jolly Ranchers, with fruit punch Powerade and water. I felt hot the majority of the run, I was sweating a lot.

20120917-115400.jpg
The run was relatively uneventful, with a 10:30 average pace, so I was pleased. I did experience a totally new phenomenon- when I was finished, I was stretching, and noticed that there were actual salt granules on a my shins. I’ve run a lot of races in varying weather, and I’ve often emerged with a white salt streak on my face… But never full fledged granules! Can you see the granules on my finger?

20120917-115626.jpg
Nasty. And awesome. As Nancy and Kim always said… “Running isn’t about pretty.”
I came home, took an ice bath, and finished up editing those photos, just in time for date night! Brian and I headed over to Point After, a local place with great food! I haven’t had a real burger in over a year, and I was craving one. I ordered their olive burger- a beef patty topped with both black and green and olives and Swiss cheese. Amazing. I was going to take a photo, but the burger disappeared quickly. I was craving salt! 🙂 I did manage to take a photo of my hot date…

20120917-115856.jpg
After dinner, we took a short (but loud!) walk to the Schobert’s house. We gave them our old lawn mower, so we pushed it the five blocks to their house. Those little lawn mower wheels made a lot of noise going down the bumpy pavement. 🙂 I was so wiped out from the busy day that it was hard to prep my equipment for Saturday’s wedding- but it was a local Stevens Point wedding, so we lucked out! 🙂
Andy and Christina had a gorgeous wedding at SentryWorld golf course. The day was beautiful, a little cooler (yay, fall!), and the sun was shining. Direct sun is a challenge for a photographer, but we worked it out. Take a peek!

Congratulations, Andy and Christina! Thanks for including us in your big day 🙂
Dale and I started our fall series of dance lessons last night. I missed all the CWN folks! We started intermediate tango and beginner waltz. It was wonderful to see everyone again! I’m looking forward to the next 9 weeks of lessons. 🙂
I’ve been in such a fall mood that I made pumpkin pancakes for breakfast and a pumpkin smoothie for dinner. Pumpkin smoothie. It ended up like pumpkin pie in a glass, but much healthier. 🙂
My birthday is tomorrow, and Brian surprised me by getting me a private lesson on a pottery wheel. I brought him along, and we both made two bowls! It was so much fun!

I can’t wait to go back and glaze them.
I’m back in the office today, catching up on paperwork. I love these cool fall mornings!

Fall is here! (Part I)

Happy fall, friends! I know it’s not officially fall until Friday, but the cooler temperatures have me thinking autumnal thoughts 🙂
Thanks for your patience in between posts- fall is a busy time for photos!
I’ve got a few fun photos from camping earlier this month- when we were enjoying the last weekend of summer 🙂

20120917-111036.jpg
We even make salads when camping!

That trip was all about spending some quality time together with our pups, and it was wonderful.
Last Thursday, I had my monthly TU board meeting, followed by a quick trip to O’so for some photos with Joe for Hoopla.

Brian’s phone died on Friday, so we visited our friend, Devon, at the Sprint store…

20120917-111558.jpg
…and Brian became an iPhone user. Yay! 🙂 We left the Sprint store and headed to New London to prepare for the beautiful Green Bay wedding of Rachel and Alex. Their ceremony was held on the St. Norbert campus at the Old St. Joseph church, and their reception was at Crystal Falls, in New London. Here’s a photo review of that gorgeous wedding!

Rachel is Brian’s cousin, so I wanted to include a family photo of the Oberstadt clan, minus a few. What a big family!

Now that’s a kiss! Way to go, Grandma and Grandpa!
Sunday was a great day- we went to church at Appleton Alliance with my mother-in-law, Jean, then we did some thrift shopping. We even made a stop at DSW…

20120917-112456.jpg
…new boots! We let the pups run at Jean’s house, then headed home just in time for the Packer game. 🙂
I started off the week with two great coffee dates- one with the new percussion professor at the University, and we talked about some repertoire. I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my marimba when wedding season is over. 🙂 I also met with Kim, from Life is Art– I love talking with other young photographers. Kim is an incredible photographer and also a professor of web and digital media design- she’s an intelligent, artistic lady, and it was great to meet up! Thanks, Kim! 🙂
More to come, as soon as I can…
